BIOGRAPHY
Duo Luminare is a piano four-hands duo formed by longtime friends Yejin Lee and Min Young Park. Having first met at an arts middle school in Seoul and later reconnected during their doctoral studies at Peabody, they share a deep passion and musicianship that shines through every performance. Dedicated to exploring and promoting the rich and monumental, yet often underrated, repertoire for piano four hands, they have become a vibrant presence in the DMV area. Their performances at venues such as the Epiphany Church Music Series and the Emerson Avenue Salon Series have been met with enthusiastic applause and praise for their seamless ensemble work and refined artistry, often described as “playing like one soul.”
Yejin Lee is an active soloist and chamber musician based in the United States. She has been invited to perform in many prestigious venues, including her solo debut at Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York, the Cultural Art Center in Jaen, Spain, the Tyler Recital Hall in Florida, and the Seoul Arts Center in Seoul, Korea. Her performances have also been featured and broadcast live on WCLV 104.9 FM from the Cleveland Play House. She has appeared as a soloist with the Korean Symphony Orchestra and with the Accord Symphony Orchestra.
Yejin has claimed awards at prestigious competitions, including the Dallas International Piano Competition, Kingsville International Piano Competition, and Wideman International Piano Competition. She has also performed at leading music festivals and masterclasses at the Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg, the Banff Music Festival, the Gijon Music Festival in Spain, and PianoTexas International Academy & Festival. She has shared musical inspiration with some of the great pedagogues and pianists of this century, including Richard Goode, Dmitry Bashkirov, Stephen Hough, John O’Conor, John Perry, and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling.
Yejin graduated with honors from the Oberlin Conservatory, earning degrees in both piano performance and vocal accompanying under Haewon Song and Philip Highfill. She later completed her master’s and
doctorate degrees under Boris Slutsky at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. She continues to receive invaluable mentorship from Lambert Orkis, further cultivating her artistry.
She currently serves as a piano faculty member at the Washington Conservatory of Music and as a professorial lecturer at George Washington University. As a staff pianist at Shenandoah University, she actively collaborates with students in both solo and ensemble performances. In addition to her academic roles, Yejin maintains a private teaching studio and is dedicated to music education as a member of MTNA and NVMTA.
As the founder and artistic director of Matinee-M, a house concert series in McLean, VA, she is also committed to bringing classical music into the community through intimate and engaging performances.
Min Young Park has garnered international recognition for her artistry. She won First Prize at both the Chopin National Competition in Korea and the Asia Chopin International Competition in Japan. Following her First Prize at the Harrison L. Winter Concerto Competition, she made her Baltimore debut with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra under Leon Fleisher. In Korea, she has performed with the Prime Philharmonic and the SNU Symphony Orchestra. Her performances have taken her to leading venues
worldwide, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Kumho Art Hall and the Seoul Arts Center in Korea, Salle Marius Ecole in France, and the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
As an avid chamber musician, Min Young joined the Piatigorsky Foundation National Tour as guest pianist with Foundation artist Qing Li, Principal Second of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and a violin professor at the Peabody Conservatory. She has also been invited to festivals such as Music@Menlo, Taos, Bowdoin (as a Kaplan Fellow), and Aigues-Vives en Musiques in France, collaborating with artists including Gilbert Kalish, Wu Han, David Finckel, Robert McDonald, Judith Ingolfsson, and the Brentano, Borromeo, Miro, and Ying String Quartets.
Min Young graduated summa cum laude from Seoul National University under Ick-Choo Moon. She earned her master’s degree at The Juilliard School under Choong-Mo Kang and her doctorate at the Peabody Conservatory, studying with Yong Hi Moon. As a devoted educator, she has served on the faculty of summer festivals including Piano at Peabody and as Director of the Young Artist Program at the Leon Fleisher Academy. She is currently a faculty member in the Keyboard Studies Department at the Peabody Conservatory, and at Peabody Preparatory she serves as a piano faculty member and lecturer for musicianship group classes.
