Sara Zhu, flute, and David Palmer, piano, will take listeners through a chronological journey of collaborative music. Selections will include Bach, Gaubert, Hindemith, Palmer, and more.
BIOGRAPHY
Sara Zhu is a genre blending flutist, vocalist, and songwriter based in the Washington, DC area. Zhu performs regularly as both a leader and side-woman in many of DC’s staple establishments including Blues Alley, The Kennedy Center, Strathmore, and The Kreeger Museum. She is featured on Alfred Yun’s recent album, “Voice and Phenomenon,” amongst many other recording projects. In addition to performing, Zhu is an avid educator, serving as the adjunct flute and jazz combo instructor at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Zhu is currently working on the first album with her alternative rock band, Your Trusted Officials. Their single, “Everglades,” is currently available on all streaming platforms.
David Palmer is a music teacher, performer, and composer. Since moving to the DMV in 2020, he has worked as a piano teacher for children, a church musician, and an instructor for Wesley Seminary. He holds a Ph.D. in music theory from the Eastman School of Music, has a jazz trio, and plays music at a regional hospital and at a hospice facility.
