This time round, the trio will be playing a setlist curated by Anthony himself. This will feature a selection of tunes from Avishai Cohen, Kurt Rosenwinkle and also Anthony’s own compositions. The evening will help us get to know Anthony better and we are very much looking forward to the ECM-ish vibe of the evening.

BIOGRAPHY

Poh Teng is a percussionist/drummer from the San Francisco Bay Area. He began as a classically trained percussionist and was awarded the Anne & Gordon Getty scholarship to attend California State University East Bay where he earned his BA in Music Performance in percussion. Teng is genre crossing and has performed in a wide range of settings from being a featured soloist playing percussion concertos to sideman set drummer covering multiple styles.

In recent years, Teng has had the privilege to play at some pretty notable venues across the country; SF Jazz, Yoshi’s, Kennedy Center Millenium Stage, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Hamilton Live DC, Nectars, Muzikfest, Rockwood Music Hall, Purple Fiddle to name a few. Teng has also had the privilege to work with many bay area musicians; Kevan Smedt, Brian Ho, Sitka Sun including legends like Calvin Keys and John Shifflet. On the east coast he has worked with the likes of Alfred Yun, Elijah Balbed, Adam Fluger, Daniel Murray, Sweet Something, DC Martini, Peter Edelman, etc.

When not on the road, Teng is currently staying busy working on his own musical projects, freelancing playing locally and doing session work.

Anthony Stoika is a jazz and classical percussionist and composer and performs a wide range of repertoire consisting of jazz standards, original compositions, and contemporary works for percussion. He attended Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV where he graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Music Performance with an emphasis in Jazz. He performs regularly in the DMV on both drums and vibraphone.

Jeff Cuny is a bassist, arranger and composer living in Washington, D.C. Originally from Detroit, he studied jazz in the heart of the Motor City at Wayne State University, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. While there, he studied under notable musicians including Paul Keller, Russ Miller and Chris Collins. Over the past 15 years he has performed, recorded and toured with a wide array of musicians and ensembles throughout metro Detroit and the DMV.
