Tribute to Wes Montgomery<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Experience the intimate interaction of live jazz with northern Virginia’s own Trio Loco as we celebrate the groundbreaking music of legendary guitarist Wes Montgomery. Wes’s enormous contributions to guitar include technical innovation and harmonic sophistication, always presented with a rhythmically punctilious dynamism that manages to be both elegantly refined and eminently funky. Trio Loco will explore all of it, from his bluesy roots and earthy swing to the lush melodicism of his ballads, taking inspiration from his genius to put our own spin on his music in the great tradition of jazz.

BIOGRAPHY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guitarist Matt Trimboli <\/strong>attended the Berklee College of Music and received his BA in jazz performance from William Paterson University in his native New Jersey where he studied with Vic Juris, Bucky Pizzarelli, Rufus Reid, and David Berger among other renowned faculty. After gigging in the NYC area for several years, including a 2-year engagement with Grammy winner Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks on guitar and tenor banjo, he moved to Northern Virginia where he freelances on guitar, bass, and banjo in jazz combos, big bands and theater orchestras. Since 2002, he has also been the music director and staff arranger for Swing Shift, an 18-piece big band performing throughout the DC metro area. Matt is an active member and big band leader with the Loudon Jazz Society; they organize a Jazz Jam Session on the third Sunday of each month. <\/a>https:\/\/loudounjazz.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dan Perriello<\/strong> is a born drummer.  When his parents couldn\u2019t afford a drum set or lessons, Dan began air drumming with chopsticks \u2013 reading, watching and listening to everything he could to teach himself drums. Finally acquiring a vintage Rogers set two agonizing years later, he joined his first band and played his first gig within months.  In the more than 30 years since, Dan has performed with countless top Washington, DC musicians at major venues such as the 9:30 Club, HFStival, and Nationals Park, opening for acts ranging from Andrew WK and Gavin DeGraw to comedian Bob Sagat.  He has drummed on several EPs and full-length albums, including the Wammie-award winning \u201cSecond Place Confession\u201d by Bicycle Thieves and \u201cWanderlust\u201d by Laura Burhenn.  Writing and recording original songs under the name Amateur Hour, Dan has had music from his recording \u201cThis Year\u2019s Epiphany\u201d licensed to television networks and programs such as  \u201cDiners, Dives and Drive-Ins\u201d and the Golf Channel.  A passionate musician and educator, Dan brings the same joyful exuberance to his performances and lessons as he felt when he got his first kit. Dan teaches at Minton\u2019s Academy of Music and organizes a monthly Jazz Jam Session, typically on the second Sunday of the month. https:\/\/www.mintonsmusic.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bassist Eugenio Ibarz<\/strong> was born in Barcelona (Spain). He learned classical guitar, and then transitioned to jazz guitar. In the 90\u2019s he was a freelance guitar player and teacher, giving lessons and playing electric guitar and electric bass in different bands. Eugenio moved to the U.S. in 2002, where he taught guitar for a few years, learned the upright bass with Pepe Gonz\u00e1lez in DC, and has been performing actively in duos and jazz groups in the DMV area since 2018. You can catch Eugenio at Bourbon Boulevard (a steakhouse in Chantilly) where he plays at least every Tuesday \u2014 usually as a jazz duo, with Matt Trimboli and other players throughout the month, and some weekends with other local bands such as Courtney Nero\u2019s Quartet, and Mike Quinn\u2019s Jazz Infuzion.
