Born in Montr\u00e9al, Sophia Kim Cook<\/b> began studying piano at six at \u00c9cole de musique Vincent d\u2019Indy quickly defining her talent, placing in the Canadian Music Competition just one year later. As her ability grew, she decided to pursue music at Conservatoire de musique du Qu\u00e9bec, finishing both her Bachelors and Masters degrees at McGill University.<\/p>\n

Sophia has since relocated to the States with her husband. Described as a \u2018virtuostic piano backbone\u2019 (DC Arts Beats) and \u2018a steadying presence at the piano\u2019 (Washington Post), Ms. Kim Cook is a sought out pianist, having played for a myriad of soloists and ensembles, including the Washington Concert Opera, members of the National Symphony Orchestra and the Washington National Opera.  Sophia was invited to record a CD with the principal trombonist of the San Francisco Symphony, Tim Higgins which was released in the spring 2013.<\/p>\n

Violinist Jan Chong<\/b> has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, Washington Opera and Ballet, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, National Chamber Players, Minnesota Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.  She has been a solo recitalist at the Corcoran Gallery and performed chamber music at the Smithsonian, the Millenium Stage, and the Hungarian Embassy.<\/p>\n

With her husband, NSO violinist Glenn Donnellan, the Imagination Duo plays for young audiences at the Kennedy Center Family Theater and in the National Symphony Orchestra\u2019s education outreach programs in the D.C. public schools.  Jan also performs NSO education programs in area schools with her King Street Quartet.<\/p>\n

Jan studied with Donald Weilerstein at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she received her Bachelor of Music and her Master of Music.  Born in Seoul, Korea, Jan grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, where her love for chamber music began with her sisters, who performed together the Chong Chamber Players.<\/p>\n

Joy Hodges Branagan<\/b> is currently in the horn section of the National Symphony, and she also holds the position of Second Horn with the Richmond Symphony in Virginia, and performs regularly with other ensembles in the area, including the Baltimore Symphony and the Washington National Opera and Ballet.<\/p>\n

From 2009-2011, Joy was Second Horn in the Vancouver Symphony in Canada.   She has also held the position of Second Horn in the San Antonio Symphony, Fourth Horn in the Albany Symphony (NY), and Third Horn in the New Haven Symphony (CT).<\/p>\n

In addition to orchestral performance, Joy has a private teaching studio, and teaches and performs at the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina and Bar Harbor Brass Week in Maine every summer.<\/p>\n

Joy received her musical training from The University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Music in Education in 1996, and received a Master of Music in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City in 1998.<\/p>\n
