Born from a desire for great conversations in and about music, the newly formed Paludan Paskalov duo will perform the music Richard Strauss, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, Alexander Scriabin and the US premier of songs by Nikola\u2019s grandfather: renowned Hungarian-born composer and pianist, Nikola Glassl. &#8216;Transforming Ophelia&#8217; is a&nbsp;thought-provoking, moving and redemptive look at love, men and women through the lens of our modern world.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<\/div>\n<h1><strong>BIOS<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>An \u201coutstanding voice,\u201d according to the Washington Post, soprano, <strong>Karin Paludan<\/strong> works in opera, recital, cabaret and musical theater, and also works extensively in educational and community outreach through Washington Performing Arts, the National Symphony Orchestra and Music For Autism. Performing as a soloist in opera and recital and as one half of The Paludan Sisters, she has performed throughout the United States with such companies as Community Concerts, New York City Opera, the Utah Festival Opera and the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, at The Kennedy Center, The Library of Congress, The National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian. Recent performances include the premier of \u201cMusic of the Mind\u201d, (a collaborative cabaret created by The Paludan Sisters), at the Lied Center of Kansas, \u201cClose Your Eyes, Now Open Your Ears\u201d and \u201c2 Divas and A Bear\u201d with NSO Education at the Kennedy Center\u2019s Family Theater, a Christmas concert with Wes McCune in Parkersburg, WV and an appearance with the McLean Symphony. Future performances include tours of \u201cThe Music of the Mind\u201d with The Paludan Sisters, \u201cGeorge, Ira and Friends\u201d and \u201cFor Art For Love\u201d with Mr. McCune and recitals with pianist, Nikola Paskalov. An artist committed to connecting communities through the power of music, she believes we all have the potential to raise our voices and change the world.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Praised for his \u201cbrilliant in expression. . . Illuminated by gentle intensity\u201d (<em>Fr\u00e4nkische Landeszeitung<\/em>), <strong>Nikola Paskalov <\/strong>has actively performed internationally, having given solo and chamber concerts throughout Europe and appeared with the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of the Croatian Radio and Television, and Rucner Quartet (Croatia), Gajdov Quartet (Macedonia) and Kodaly Quartet (Hungary).<\/p>\n<p>Recently he gave a solo recital at the concert series \u201cPianists of the World\u201d at St. Martin-in-the-Fields\u201d in London and gave a debut recital at Carnegie Hall in New York.&nbsp; He has also performed at the jubilee edition of the Ohrid Summer Festival, and he was awarded for his outstanding artistic achievement by the Macedonian Association of Musicians.<\/p>\n<p>Nikola received his early education at a high school associated with the Moscow Conservatory P.I. Tchaikovsky in Moskow, and later studied at the Faculty of Music (FMU) in Skopje. He continued his studies further at the European Mozart Academy in &nbsp;Krakow (Poland), having &nbsp;worked with A. Satz, I. Roman, V. Lobanov, &nbsp;J. Vitenbah, D. Golub, A. Newman.&nbsp; He has also participated in master-classes by Paul Badura-Skoda, Georg Sebok, Gunter Rainhold and Peter Feuchtwanger. Since 1998 Nikola has worked and collaborated with Peter Feuchtwanger, working as his assistant on several international master-classes in Salzburg and Feuchtwangen.<\/p>\n<p>Nikola appears on many recordings for the production of the Macedonian Radio and Television, former Yugoslav Radio and Television, SJF records and Croatian Radio, and produced CD\u2019s under the label of JMM (Jeunesse Musicale Macedonia) in 2007 year and in 2013 CD with recording of N. Glassl piano concerto with the Symphony Orchestra of the Croatian Radio and Television under their label.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2014 he moved to the Washington DC metro area in McLean\/Virginia, where he is continuing with his professional activities, performing occasionally in Maryland and Virginia and was recently invited to perform a benefit concert as a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America.
