Autumnal Airs

As the autumn nights get longer, this music for string quartet brings light to the spirit!  Mendelssohn’s string quartet radiates joy and contrast Villa Lobos’s occasional melancholy. Price composes a lively lightness reminiscent of ballet music amidst a folk song-inspired movement, and dance continues with the Turtle Island and Danish String Quartets!

PROGRAM

Florence Price: ‘Andante moderato’ from Quartet No. 1

Felix Mendelssohn: Quartet No. 3, Op. 44 No. 1

David Balakrishnan: Texas Tarantella

Heitor Villa-Lobos: Quartet No. 1

Danish String Quartet: Old Reinlender from Sønndala
